I’m afraid that I’m one of those people who actually enjoys working out.
Not necessarily all the time but generally I like nothing better than lacing up my trainers and heading for a run/to the gym. I’ve always been a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none when it comes to sporting pastimes. I played netball, tennis and took part in athletics at school, have ridden horses since I was 10 and sporadically used the gym and pool at uni. It wasn’t until I was working fulltime that I started to venture into running.
Distance has never been my forte; I’ve always been more of a burst of energy kind of girl. But I proved that slowly but surely running more than 5mins, usually accompanied by the stream of thought “I hate it. I hate it”, became possible, and even *shock, horror*, enjoyable! I found that pacing, building distance/time slowly and regularity were the key to a successful and enjoyable running experience.

Runs became the perfect way to de-stress and clear my mind after a long day or to pound out frustrations. Once I could run for 30mins or so I entered my first Race for Life 5k in Aberystwyth. Since then I’ve done a few more 5 and 10ks. I've also coached and helped friends to train and complete their first 5k race. My aim is to complete a half marathon and to start up my fitness again post babies!
Healthy body, healthy mind!
